When she first lands on the Ground, Clarke wants to stick with the Ark’s mission to help them gain the information necessary to prove the Ground is habitable and adamantly refuses to join in Bellamy’s lawless society. She’s a natural leader and eventually co-leads with Bellamy in making decisions for the 100 as she convinces him that they need to be unified by creating a more structured society in order to survive. She is extremely stubborn and has a hard time forgiving others who have wronged her or do something she views as immoral. Clarke often relies on past experiences in making decisions. Her initial experiences lead her to believe that the Grounders cannot be trusted and so she brings back-up with her for a peace meeting even though she was told expressly not to. Clarke also uses her mother’s experiences as a doctor to help treat the wounded. She shows sentimentality in wearing her father’s watch, celebrating “Unity Day” on the Ground and wiling her time in prison away by drawing pictures of Earth on the prison walls.
Clarke prioritizes her family and friendships first. She is willing to go to extreme lengths to save her friends and family even if it puts her life in danger. Clarke is caring. She seeks to comfort Charlotte after a nightmare and sings a song to a dying member of the group before killing him in a humane effort to end his suffering. She is extremely distressed at the prospect of the Ark killing innocent lives to save oxygen and redoubles their efforts to contact them. During an outbreak she tends and cares for the sick despite being sick herself. Clarke tends to have a hard time hiding her feelings from others.
Clarke seeks to make things run more smoothly and efficiently in leading and running the 100 camp by instilling order. Eventually she wants to improve relationships with the Grounders in order to help help fight a mutual enemy and takes an interest in understanding their customs to work with them. She has a hard time viewing something objectively when she has an emotional investment in the situation. Although Clarke believes in a “better way” she is a realist and uses her knowledge of present circumstances to do whatever is necessary to survive or save a friend even if the result compromises her values.
Clarke is only interested in new ideas as they are applicable to solving the problems at hand. She has a one-tract mind and is not very easily distracted or persuaded away from accomplishing her goals. Clarke prioritizes her goals and deals with them one at a time. She trusts her gut instinct and relies on it more than reason in her decision making. Clarke deals with her immediate surroundings and circumstances rather than theorizing about the future or ideals.

History
Clarke was born in the year of 2131 and raised on the Ark to Jake and Abigail Griffin. Before her imprisonment, Clarke's father discovered that the Ark space station was running out of oxygen, and had an estimated 6 months worth left. He shared this information with Clarke and planned on going public with the information, only to have Abigail report him to the Chancellor in fears it might scare the public after the Chancellor ordered him not to. He was later 'floated', an act in which he is put in an airlock room and the oxygen is released, thus killing him. Clarke acting as an accomplice was imprisoned for treason instead of being 'floated', because she was under the age of 18. Because of her statues of prisoner she was considered to be expendable by the council and was volunteered by her mother to be sent down to Earth to test the air for to see if it was livable again with 99 other delinquents.
